SPEEDRUN.COM LEADERBOARDS

Global Rules:

  • Timing:
    • SRC = starts upon selecting “New Game” and ends upon “Arsenal falls.” or “Defeated 1.” appearing on screen
    • ニコ = starts upon selecting “New Game” and ends upon the end of the credits music
    • Time begins from power on for Defeat Arsenal, Any% NMG, and All Chests NMG
    • For Any%, time ends upon the “The End” animation ending
  • Super Game Boy is allowed
  • Turbo:
    • On the English version, turbo is not allowed
    • On the Japanese version, turbo is allowed due to the NicoNico Leaderboards historically allowing it
  • Video proof is required for all runs submitted
    • All videos must have a timer displayed on screen
    • Videos that are locked behind a paywall are not allowed
  • On emulator:
    • For GB, the only allowed emulators are BGB, Bizhawk, and Gambatte
      • For Any%, Glitchless RTA, the only allowed emulator is BGB with a bootrom
    • For GBC, the only allowed emulator is BGB with a bootrom
    • The use of turbo, speed-up, and doing anything otherwise not possible on a real console is not allowed
  • About resets:
    • Single Segment = no resets were made during the run
    • RTA = resets were made during the run

Conversion between timing standards will be done by ffvd_games if it hasn’t been done already.

By default, all runs performed on SGB will have their times converted to its GB equivalent. Conversion between SGB and GB will be done via this website.

Category Rules:

  • Any%
    • On NicoNico, the equivalent category is the second Other category
    • All glitches and bugs are allowed
    • RNG manipulation is allowed
    • Soft and hard resets are allowed
  • Defeat Arsenal
    • On SRC, the equivalent category is No Credits Warp
    • All glitches except credits warp are allowed
    • Arsenal must be defeated
    • RNG manipulation is allowed
    • Soft and hard resets are allowed
  • Any% NMG
    • On SRC, the equivalent category is No Memory Corruption RTA
    • The use of Poison Glitch and Trashcan Bug are not allowed
    • RNG manipulation is allowed
    • Soft and hard resets are allowed
  • Glitchless RTA
    • On NicoNico, the equivalent category is the first Other category
    • The use of glitches and bugs are not allowed
    • The use of RNG manipulation is allowed
    • Only soft resets are allowed
      • Skipping encounters via soft reset is not allowed
  • Glitchless No Hard Resets
    • On NicoNico, the equivalent category is Ekiden Rules
    • The use of glitches, bugs, and RNG manipulation are not allowed
      • Before any run begins, RNG must be scrambled (fight a random amount of enemies and soft reset)
    • Only soft resets are allowed
      • Skipping encounters via soft reset is not allowed
  • All Chests NMG
    • Any% NMG rules apply
    • All chests must be opened
  • All Chests Glitchless No Hard Resets
    • The rules from Glitchless No Hard Resets apply
    • All chests must be opened

For TA Runs:

  • Real time is used as there is no in-game timer
    • The timing standard is the same as the ニコ Standard for Any%
    • Each segment is timed individually. The final time is calculated by adding up every segment together
      • This is the equivalent of a segmented speedrun
  • 8/19A written route with your notes is required for all runs submitted
    • You must also provide exact stats for things like damage dealt, combo order, equipment changes, etc.
  • Video proof is not required, though it helps strengthen the veracity of your run
  • Turbo is allowed

For Challenge Runs:

  • 4 Monsters RTA, 4 Robots RTA, 4 Humans RTA, 4 Mutants RTA, Human Esper
    • Glitchless RTA rules apply
    • Your party must be entirely composed of the races described by the category name

Note that the records for TA runs may be inaccurate due to how old the records are. If a time is missing that should be on there, DM me on Twitter with a link to the run’s route and I’ll add it ASAP.

As stated on the home page, if you would like your run to not be listed on this page, please DM me on Twitter and I will remove it ASAP.
