About North Gate
There are two versions of North Gate; the Rich generation (old) and the Ginny generation (new). The harbor is the same in both, but going to the central area sends you to one of the two North Gate maps. Each version has a separate flag (128 in 331b) that’s determined when starting a relevant scenario. However, if the selected scenario can’t normally go to North Gate, that flag doesn’t change and instead carries over from the previous flag setting for North Gate.
Also, without manipulating 331b, you can go from new to old by entering and exiting the Fossil Cave, and from old to new by entering and exiting the Giant Worm Cave. If you want to go back to the original version for that scenario, just enter and exit the harbor.
About Town Scenarios
The town visited flag is controlled with 192a:
a=16 |
Weissland |
a=32 |
Gruegel |
a=64 |
Laubholz |
a=128 |
Vogelang |
In some cases, only Gruegel is available and and the other three towns won’t appear until you visit and leave Gruegel. Vogelang doesn’t appear until Desert Megalith (173a) has been cleared (254). Weissland and Laubholz won’t appear until Tycoon Wil (178b) has been cleared (254).

Watts and Greta
After you recruit Watts and Greta, if they aren’t forced to leave by the story event, they’ll stay in your party for the next scenario. You can also use them in the final battle. All their parameters will be reset when you rejoin them.
To prevent Watts and Greta from leaving, you can use the Showdown! Alexei progress flag (174a=3) and defeat Hellwinger. For William, if you skip his removal event, he can end (Showdown! Alexei?) by visiting a town scenario.
Other than unique events, the only confirmed removal events are the combat scenario, Kelvin replacing Gustave in Gustave 15 Years Old, and Tyler replacing Wil in Wil vs. Egg.
Scenario Priority
When multiple scenarios are being played at the same time and certain events (reactions to conversations, destinations during map movement, etc) overlap, the one before the management data position (the one with the least amount of SP) takes priority.
Exceeding the Party Member Limit
The 9th character onward will have their recruitment flag activated, but will be treated as if they’re not in the party (their equipment can be collected via the NPC).
No Scenario State
If all scenarios related to the current map are not in progress, special things may happen when changing locations
- Thermes: When you go outside, you can move freely without collision or a sprite. When you go up, you’ll return to inside of Thermes
- Wide: If you go outside, you can move freely without collision or a sprite. You can’t go anywhere, though
- Settlement: If you go outside, you can move freely without collision. Go to the upper left corner to go to the Settlement
- Giant Worm Cave: You can go to North Gate without triggering the ending event
- Grand Valley: You can go to Laubholz without triggering the ending event
- Ruins of Hahn: You can escape from the east entrance (the top left part of MAP165 in Ultimania)
By the way, you can enter the east entrance of Ruins of Hahn by flagging 01 with 174b.
